Significance of 9/11 to New Zealander's and their involvement.
New Zealand as a country and New Zealanders themselves, didn't have a significant role or input in the 9/11 attacks. Many New Zealanders who were alive during this time will still strongly remember seeing images on the television and the live footage of the Twin Towers collapsing. This is a strong image that they will never forget. Other than seeing the disaster strike on the television and in the media, New Zealand has only made an impact and collaborated with the United States of America following the event. New Zealand has risen to help in many ways, was affected moderately; but will never forget this event.
New Zealand was lucky enough to only have two people who died in the attacks; out of the 3,000. Their names were Alan Beaven who was 48 years old and on flight 93, and John Lozowsky who had lived in New York for 12 years and was married with one child. With New Zealanders back at home knowing this, it provoked the fear of flying for some; as many feared their safety.
Airport security (since the attacks) has increased, in not only America; but the whole world. New Zealand has seen a huge change in airport security and many jobs have been created; due to the amount of new safety rules that have been made. This is both a positive and negative impact for New Zealand, as it had created new jobs for the unemployed; but yet it costs the employer more to pay everyone.
New Zealands involvement in the Afghanistan War was a key result from 9/11.
Also following the event, many New Zealanders promptly joined alongside the United States of America, and helped fight their war in Afghanistan. This grew the relationship between New Zealand and America to become a lot stronger. Although this brought a positive aspect into the spotlight, many negatives followed. With many New Zealanders going to war in Afghanistan, it lead to the high chance of injury and death for those New Zealanders who went, and those who are still continuing to go. It also caused a lot of grief and nervousness for those families of the soldiers who are left at home.
With New Zealand being at war in Afghanistan with America, they (New Zealand), could be getting themselves in a huge amount of trouble that they do not know about. Because of the untrusting stories that have lead from the 9/11 attacks, and if the US government is hiding the truth; New Zealand could possibly be involved and contributing in an illegal war. If this is the case, then the New Zealand government could be prosecuted for possible war crimes and seriously investigated.
Leading from this war there has been a huge increase in oil and food prices. It is draining New Zealand as a country economically, and the individual New Zealander as well. It is getting harder to live an easy lifestyle in New Zealand and is causing many to move overseas. All of this has been caused due to the war New Zealand is involved in, which has lead from the 9/11 attacks.
